Cloud Ninjas' HP ProLiant DL320E G8 Server Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the Supermicro X9SCM-IIF?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF can be upgraded using 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB UDIMM.
- What speeds are supported by the Supermicro X9SCM-IIF?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF can support 1066, 1333, or 1600 MHz based on DIMM and configuration.
- What types of RAM are accepted by the Supermicro X9SCM-IIF?
Supermicro X9SCM-IIF supports DDR3 with ECC UDIMM only.
- What is ECC Registered Memory?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF Server does not support registered memory with ECC. ECC memory detects and corrects memory errors within the server environment. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory transfers less electrical load to your memory controller which makes it more stable and reliable.
- What is Unbuffered Memory?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF supports unbuffered memory with ECC. Unbuffered memory is memory that has no register between your DRAM and your system’s memory controller.
- What is Load Reduced Memory?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF does not support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed.
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF does not support the use of both unregistered and registered memory with ECC or the use of non-ECC memory. It is recommended to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- What is max configuration?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF allows the maximum configuration of 32 GB using four 8 GB dual rank DIMM.
- How many memory channels per CPU?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF has 2 channels which allow two UDIMM per channel, with a total of 4 slots which are numbered 1 through 4.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel?
The Supermicro X9SCM-IIF Server requires that DIMM sockets only be populated based on the exact number of slots i.e., 1 through 4. The white DIMM slot is the first slot of each channel. An arrow exists on the motherboard that indicates the location of the processor.
- Where can I order memory for my server?
Order your memory at https://cloudninjas.com/ by finding and selecting the memory package that is right for you.
- How soon will my RAM arrive?
Orders placed before 8 am are set for same day processing and shipping. Delivery times vary based on carrier and location.
- What is the warranty on memory for the server?
Cloud Ninjas offers a one-year warranty on fully tested, refurbished memory.
