6. What is Load Reduced Memory?  Do LRDIMMs work with the R730 XL server? 
   Yes.  The Dell PowerEdge R730 server does support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed. Hyper-cloud DIMM (HCDIMM or HDIMM) is considered load reduced memory which is 240-pin, 72 bit wide. LRDIMMs are not subject to the rank rule and the server views them as dual rank instead of quad rank.

10. How do I identify the start of the memory channels inside my R730?
    The Dell PowerEdge R730 XL server, requires memory to be installed into the first white channel marked A1 for Processor 1 and then Processor 2 the first white channel marked B1.  White is the first DIMM in the channel.  Black is the second DIMM in the channel.  Green is the third DIMM.  A = channel #1.  B = channel #2 and so forth.  Dell has color coded the DIMM slots and labeled the motherboard to make it as user friendly as possible.
