Sizes supported include 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. Speeds accepted are 2133MT/s, 2400MT/s or 2666MT/s. Note that 2666 DIMMs will operate at 2400 speed. There are two types of compatible RAM: ECC Reg (RDIMM) and Load Reduced (LRDIMM). Both have the exact same scalability for the R430.
The PowerEdge R430 is a 1U server from Dell's 13th Generation. There are two CPUs inside supporting twelve DDR4 DIMM slots. This an excellent option for a dedicated server performing applications such as virtualization, file sharing or running a corporate environment. Cloud Ninjas offers memory upgrade packages that will work with your Dell PowerEdge R430 Server. To find the best memory upgrade kit for your Dell PowerEdge R430 Server, simply choose the preferred RAM type, speed and size from the list below. As far as type, we ECC Registered and Load Reduced are both great options. We tend to use ECC Reg for lower modules 4GB 8GB 16GB and Load Reduced for 32GBs. Speed we recommend maxing out at 2400MT/s. Size depends on your application but we generally use 16GB and 32GB modules in our builds.

Dell PowerEdge R430 Memory Configuration
The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a Dual Processor system with 8 DIMM slots on the first CPU and 4 DIMM slots on the second CPU. There are four memory channels per CPU. The channels on the first CPU control two DIMM slots each. Whereas the second CPUs memory channels only control one DIMM slot per channel. White is the start of the memory channel and black is the second slot. Speeds: 2133, 2400 and 2666MT/s. Sizes: 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. ECC Registered and Load Reduced are supported. DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT MEMORY TYPES. Different speeds can be mixed but the modules will operate at the slowest speed configured. Different sizes can be mixed. install largest size in the first slot of the channel.

Cloud Ninjas' Dell PowerEdge R430 Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the Dell PowerEdge R430 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server can be upgraded using 4, 8, 16, 32GB, and 64GB DIMM. Get your kit at https://cloudninjas.com/.
- What speeds are supported by the Dell PowerEdge R430 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server can support memory modules at speeds of 2133, 2400 and 2666MT/s. However, 2666 will operate at the true highest speed of 2400MT/s.
- What types of RAM are accepted by the Dell PowerEdge R430 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server supports DDR4 ECC Registered RDIMM and Load Reduced LRDIMM. ECC Unbuffered is not supported.
- What is ECC Registered Memory? Does the Dell R430 support ECC Reg DIMMs?
Yes. The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server supports registered memory with ECC. ECC memory detects and corrects memory errors within the server environment. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory transfers less electrical load to your memory controller which makes it more stable and reliable.
- What is ECC Unbuffered Memory? Will my Dell PowerEdge R430 work with ECC Unbuffered modules?
No. The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server does not support unbuffered memory with ECC. Unbuffered memory is memory that has no register between your DRAM and your system’s memory controller.
- What is Load Reduced Memory? Are LRDIMMs compatible with the Dell PowerEdge R430 server?
Yes. The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server does support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed. Hyper-cloud DIMM (HCDIMM or HDIMM) is considered load reduced memory which is 240-pin, 72 bit wide. LRDIMM differs from low capacity, low voltage registered memory modules (LV RDIMM).
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
No. The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server does not support the use of both unregistered and registered memory with ECC or the use of non-ECC memory. It is recommended to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- What is max memory configuration for my Dell R430 server?
The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server supports the standard maximum configuration of 768 GB using twelve 64 GB RDIMM or LRDIMMs. Order your 768GB memory upgrade kit from Cloud Ninjas today!
- How many memory channels per CPU for the Dell PowerEdge R430?
Most servers have an even amount of DIMMs across each CPU. The R430 is not your everyday server. The first CPU supports 8 DIMMs and there are 4 memory channels. The second CPU support 4 DIMMs and there are also 4 memory channels. This results in 2 DIMMs per channel for CPU1. Whereas CPU2 has only 1 DIMM per channel.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel for my Dell server?
Dell has color coded the memory tabs on each DIMM slot. They have also labeled the motherboard to make it easy to locate each channel. The Dell PowerEdge R430 Server, requires memory to be installed into the first white socket and then the first black socket. White is the start of the channel. While black is the 2nd slot in the channel. A is the first channel and B is the second channel. Consult your Dell PowerEdge R430 Server hardware manual for a diagram of memory channel.
- Where can I order memory for my Dell R430 server?
Order your memory from Cloud Ninjas by finding and selecting the memory package that is right for you. Prefer another method. Contact our team of ninjas today. We want to make your buying experience as easy and smooth as possible.
- How soon will my R430 memory upgrade arrive?
Orders placed before 8 am are set for same day processing and shipping. Delivery times vary based on carrier and location.
- What is the warranty on Dell R430 memory?
Cloud Ninjas offers a one-year warranty on fully tested, refurbished memory.
