Dell PowerEdge R540 Network Interface Controller Configuration Guide

Dell PowerEdge R540 nic Config The R540 is a Intel Processor server with possibilities for up to two Network Interface controllers ports on the back panel from the motherboard with speeds of 1GbE RJ45. The NIC speeds for the Dell PowerEdge R540 are, 1GbE, 8GbE, 10GbE up to 100 GbE, if using a network card through the PCIe slot or a mezzanine card with the LOM riser. Only PCIe, and Mezzanine NICs are accepted on the R540. RJ45, SFP+, SFP, SFP28, QSFP+, QSFP28, and fiber channel are the interface types the Dell PowerEdge R540 can have. Fibre channel cards are supported in the R540 and provide faster transfer speeds. NIC cards can come with a metal bracket or not, make sure you choose your option correctly. Some Network cards might have two variations, a low-profile variation and a full-height variation, which is based on the physical size of the card.
