Dell PowerEdge C6105 Memory Configuration
The C6105 is a Dual Processor system with 6 DIMM slots per CPU. There are three memory channels per CPU. Each memory channel manages two DIMM slots. Along with standard RDIMMs and UDIMMs, the C6105 also supports options for standard or low voltage. You cannot mix different memory types. Different speeds can be mixed but the modules will function at the slowest speed installed.
Cloud Ninjas' Dell C6105 Memory Upgrade Tips
- The number of DIMMs for the C6105 is 12.
- The PowerEdge C6105 will support 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB DDR3 registered DIMMs (RDIMMs).
- The PowerEdge C6105 will support 2GB or 4GB unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs).
- The PowerEdge C6105 will support up to 192GB of single-rank, and dual-rank RDIMMs of sizes 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB. It will also support up to 192GB quad-rank RDIMMs (two per channel)
- The C6105 will support up to 48GB of unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs).
- When purchasing new memory it is best to purchase identical memory modules to what your system already has. Your current server configuration will determine the supported DIMM type and speed.
- Speed options for the PowerEdge C6105 are 1066MHz or 1333MHz depending on the type of memory configuration.
- Think Long Term! Purchase the maximum amount that your PowerEdge C6105 can hold and avoid wasting time and money on modules you won't be able to use if you upgrade again.
- The total number of memory modules that you should have in your PowerEdge C6105 should equal 3, 6, or 12. To properly configure your system, install a minimum of three memory modules first.
Cloud Ninjas' Dell PowerEdge C6105 Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server can be upgraded using 2 GB and 4 GB UDIMM at 1333 MT/s and 2, 4, 8, and 16 GB RDIMM at 1333 or 1066 MT/s. Dual or quad rank 32 GB RDIMM at 800 MT/s or 1066 MT/s may be utilized.

- What speeds are supported by the Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server can support memory modules at speeds of 1066, 1333 MT/s and 1600 MT/s.
- What types of RAM are accepted by the Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server supports UDIMM and RDIMM.
- What is ECC Registered Memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server supports registered memory with ECC. ECC memory detects and corrects memory errors within the server environment. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory transfers less electrical load to your memory controller which makes it more stable and reliable.
- What is Unbuffered Memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server supports unbuffered memory with ECC. Unbuffered memory is memory that has no register between your DRAM and your system’s memory controller.
- What is Load Reduced Memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C2100 Server does not support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed.
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server does not support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed.
- What is max configuration?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server does not support the use of both unregistered and registered memory with ECC or the use of non-ECC memory. It is recommended to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- How many memory channels per CPU?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server supports the maximum configuration of up to 192 GB of standard memory using 12 x 16 GB RDIMM. Configuration using 32 GB RDIMM should ensure that a maximum of one memory module is dual rank and one memory module is single or dual rank for 1600 MT/s.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel?
The Dell PowerEdge C6105 Server has 2 memory channels which allow up to three (3) memory modules up to twelve (12) memory modules total.
- Where can I order memory for my server?
Order your memory at https://cloudninjas.com/ by finding and selecting the memory package that is right for you.
- How soon will my RAM arrive?
Orders placed before 8 am are set for same day processing and shipping. Delivery times vary based on carrier and location.
- What is the warranty on memory for the server?
Cloud Ninjas offers a one-year warranty on fully tested, refurbished memory.
- Is this RAM Dell labeled or Dell branded? No. The memory shipped from Cloud Ninjas is compatible with your Dell system. However, it will not have a Dell sticker. We ship major brands such as Samsung, Hynix and Micron.
