Collection: Dell PowerEdge C5220 RAM Memory Upgrades
Dell PowerEdge C5220 RAM Upgrade
Easily increase the power of your Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microservers by upgrading the memory inside. The Dell PowerEdge C5220 can be upgraded up to a maximum of 32 GB with the use of DDR3 ECC unbuffered memory. These blade nodes supports memory speeds of 1066MT/s, 1333MT/s and 1600MT/s (1866MT/s modules can be installed, but will clock down to the true fastest speed of 1600MT/s).
Cloud Ninjas offers upgrade packages that work with Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microservers. To find the best memory upgrade package for the Dell PowerEdge C5220, please select a memory type, speed, and capacity from the list below. For type, the only supported type for the C5220 is ECC unbuffered. ECC unbuffered offers a huge advantage, as it protects your data against data protection. For size, we recommend 1600MT/s. Lastly, for size, it truly depends on your application, but in general we recommend 8GB DIMMs. It is also important to note that the 12-sled version of the C5220 only accept very low profile (VLP) modules. The 8-sled version on the other hand can take regulars form factor modules. Contact our team of ninjas to help select the perfect memory kit for your Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microservers.

Dell PowerEdge C5220 Memory Configuration Guide
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver is a single CPU system with two memory channels each managing two DIMM slots. This system is only compatible with ECC Unbuffered memory and will support Standard Voltage (1.5v) and Low Voltage (1.35v) modules. You cannot mix different memory types together. You also cannot mix different voltages together. Doing so may cause a variety of different issues such as boot failure. It is possible to mix modules with different speeds, but this is not recommended because they will function at the speed of the slowest module installed. With this said, we recommend all of the memory in your C5220 Microservers be matching modules. We only ship matching memory kits, to ensure that your system will run issue free.

Cloud Ninjas' Dell PowerEdge C5220 Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver?
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Server can be upgraded using 2GB, 4GB and 8GB ECC UDIMMs.
- What speeds are supported by the Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver?
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Server accepts memory speeds of 1333MT/s and 1600MT/s (1866MT/s modules can be installed, but will clock down to the true fastest speed of 1600MT/s).
- What types of RAM are accepted by the Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver?
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver only accepts ECC unbuffered memory.
- What is ECC Registered Memory?
ECC memory has the ability to fix memory errors in your server system. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory relieves stress off of the memory controller by decreasing the electrical load which increases its stability. The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver does not support ECC Registered memory.
- What is Unbuffered Memory?
Unbuffered memory has no register between the DRAM and the system’s memory controller. Unbuffered memory can be more efficient than registered memory since there is a direction connection from the DRAM to the memory controller. The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver supports unbuffered memory with ECC and without ECC.
- What is Load Reduced Memory?
Load reduced memory (LRDIMM) modules are designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading. the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed. The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver does not support load reduced memory.
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
It is never recommended to mix different memory types. Mixing unbuffered memory with ECC and non-ECC memory may cause boot failure. The use of both unbuffered and registered memory is never recommended. It is best practice to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- What is max configuration?
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Server allows the maximum configuration of up to 32 GB of memory using four x 8 GB ECC UDIMMs.
- How many memory channels per CPU?
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver has 4 DDR3 memory slots which are split into two channels.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel?
The Dell PowerEdge C5220 Microserver has one blue DIMM slot. This slot represents the start of the first channel. The start of the second channel is one slot away from this blue slot.
- Where can I order memory for my server?
Order your memory directly from this page by finding and selecting a memory package from the list above. If you prefer another method, you can email us directly at sales@cloudninjas.com.
- How soon will my RAM arrive?
Orders placed before 8 am are set for same day processing and shipping. Delivery times vary based on carrier and location.
- What is the warranty on memory for the server?
Cloud Ninjas offers a one-year warranty on fully tested, refurbished memory.
- Is this RAM Dell labeled or Dell branded? No. The memory shipped from Cloud Ninjas is compatible with your Dell system. However, it will not have a Dell sticker. We ship major brands such as Samsung, Hynix and Micron.
