Dell PowerEdge 1950 Memory Configuration
The 1950 is a Dual Processor system with 4 DIMM slots per CPU. There are two memory channels per CPU. Each memory channel manages two DIMM slots. Different speeds can be mixed but the modules will function at the slowest speed installed.
Cloud Ninjas' Dell 1950 Memory Upgrade Tips
- Dell's PowerEdge 1950 has a total of 8 DIMM Slots running on DDR2 memory.
- The 1950 will support 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB Fully Buffered Modules (FBDIMMs), in matched pairs.
- The Gen I and Gen II Dell PowerEdge 1950 can hold up to 32GB of memory, while the Dell PowerEdge 1950 Gen III can hold a maximum of 64GB
- Think Long Term! Purchase the maximum amount that your PowerEdge 1950 can hold and avoid wasting time and money on modules you won't be able to use if you upgrade again.
- Use only qualified FBDs. FBDs can be either single-ranked or dual-ranked. FBDs marked with a 1R are single-ranked and modules marked with a 2R are dual-ranked.
- A minimum of two identical FBDs must be installed to boot up the system. Install eight modules to ensure optimal performance.
- When populating DIMM sockets on the PowerEdge 1950, populate the lowest number first.
- Memory modules must be installed in pairs of matched memory size, speed, and technology, and the total number of memory modules in the configuration must total two, four, or eight. For best system performance, all four, or eight memory modules should be identical in size, speed, and technology.
- Memory sparing and memory mirroring require eight memory, and all memory modules must be of identical memory size, speed, and technology
- The memory shipped from Cloud Ninjas is compatible with your Dell system. However, it will not have a Dell sticker. We ship major brands such as Samsung, Hynix and Micron.

They work great and improved my overall computer performance. I ended up using just four of the six I ordered because I could never get my T-3610 to recognize the two additional sticks. I now think that my machine requires even sets of memory. I am pretty sure if I had filled all slots with new 8GB ram modules it would have accepted them all. But I am okay with 32GB.There was very litle info online about the ram setup on this machine. I returned the extra two 8GB sticks with no problem.
The RAM was exactly what I needed, it arrived very fast, and was very well packaged. Works like a charm.
I received my memory as expected. I installed it and it works great.
I received my product as described the turnaround was pretty fast. 1 business day. Very satisfied
Worked great in my r730xd...2 NVME Samsung 990Pros
