Cloud Ninjas' HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server can be upgraded using single, dual rank, and quad rank 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, or 16 GB DIMM. Get your kit at https://cloudninjas.com/.
- What speeds are supported by the HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server can support 1066 and 1333 MHz based on DIMM and configuration.
- What types of RAM are accepted by the HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server supports registered memory with ECC. ECC memory detects and corrects memory errors within the server environment. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory transfers less electrical load to your memory controller which makes it more stable and reliable.
- What is ECC Registered Memory?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server supports DDR3 with ECC RDIMM and UDIMM.
- What is Unbuffered Memory?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server supports unbuffered memory with ECC. Unbuffered memory is memory that has no register between your DRAM and your system’s memory controller.
- What is Load Reduced Memory?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server does not support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed. LRDIMM differs from low capacity, low voltage registered memory modules (LV RDIMM).
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server does not support the use of both unregistered and registered memory with ECC or the use of non-ECC memory. It is recommended to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- What is max configuration?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server allows the maximum configuration of 288 GB using eighteen 16 GB RDIMM. Get your kit at https://cloudninjas.com/.
- How many memory channels per CPU?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server has three channels per processor with a total of 6 channels per server. Each channel supports 2 DIMM with a total of 12 slots.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel?
The HP ProLiant DL160 G6 Server requires that DIMM sockets be populated beginning with 2 DIMM closest to the processor. For channel 3, sockets must be populated beginning with 2 DIMM farthest from the processor.
- Where can I order memory for my server?
Order your memory at https://cloudninjas.com/ by finding and selecting the memory package that is right for you.
- How soon will my RAM arrive?
Orders placed before 8 am are set for same day processing and shipping. Delivery times vary based on carrier and location.
- What is the warranty on memory for the server?
Cloud Ninjas offers a one-year warranty on fully tested, refurbished memory.

They work great and improved my overall computer performance. I ended up using just four of the six I ordered because I could never get my T-3610 to recognize the two additional sticks. I now think that my machine requires even sets of memory. I am pretty sure if I had filled all slots with new 8GB ram modules it would have accepted them all. But I am okay with 32GB.There was very litle info online about the ram setup on this machine. I returned the extra two 8GB sticks with no problem.
The RAM was exactly what I needed, it arrived very fast, and was very well packaged. Works like a charm.
I received my memory as expected. I installed it and it works great.
I received my product as described the turnaround was pretty fast. 1 business day. Very satisfied
Worked great in my r730xd...2 NVME Samsung 990Pros
