Dell PowerEdge R940 Network Interface Controller Configuration Guide

Dell PowerEdge R940 nic Config The R940 is a Intel Processor server with possibilities for up to four Network Interface controllers ports on the back panel from the motherboard with speeds of 1GbE RJ45. The NIC speeds for the Dell PowerEdge R940 are, 1GbE, 8GbE, 10GbE, 25GbE up to 100GbE if using a network card through the PCIe slot or the network daughter card slot offered. Only PCIe NICs and network daughter cards are accepted on the R940. RJ45, SFP+, SFP, Fiber Channel, QSFP+, SFP28, QSFP28, and QSFP56 are the interface types the Dell PowerEdge R940 can have. Fibre channel cards are also possible in the R940, and provide the fastest transfer speeds. NIC cards can come with a metal bracket or not, make sure you choose your option correctly. Some Network cards might have two variations, a low-profile variation and a full-height variation, which is based on the physical size of the card.
