Cloud Ninjas' Dell PowerEdge C6100 Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server can be upgraded using 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB at 1333 MHz,16 GB and 32 GB RDIMM (1066 MHz) or 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB LVDIMM.
For a 384 GB upgrade, get your 32 GB RDIMM kit at https://cloudninjas.com/.
- What speeds are supported by the Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server can support memory modules at speeds of 1066 or 1333 MHz.
- What types of RAM are accepted by the Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server supports RDIMM and LVDIMM.
- What is ECC Registered Memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server supports registered memory with ECC. ECC memory detects and corrects memory errors within the server environment. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory transfers less electrical load to your memory controller which makes it more stable and reliable.
- What is Unbuffered Memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server does not support unbuffered memory with ECC. Unbuffered memory is memory that has no register between your DRAM and your system’s memory controller.
- What is Load Reduced Memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server does not support load reduced DIMM (LRDIMM). Load reduced DIMM is designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading, the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed.
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server does not support the use of both unregistered and registered memory with ECC or the use of non-ECC memory. It is recommended to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- What is max configuration?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server supports the maximum configuration of up to 192 GB of memory using 12 x 16 GB RDIMM / LVDIMM. For a maximum of 384 GB upgrade, get your 32 GB kit at https://cloudninjas.com/.
- How many memory channels per CPU?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server has 6 slots per processor to support processor 0 and processor 1 which allow up to twelve memory modules. The number of channels varies based upon memory mode configuration.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel?
The Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server has 12 DIMM sockets on the motherboard. When installing memory modules start the channel marked DIMM0_CHA.
- Where can I order memory for my server?
