HP ProLiant DL320E G8 RAM Upgrade
Take your HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server to the next level by upgrading the memory inside! The ProLiant DL320e G8 Server can be upgraded up to a maximum of 32GB of ECC unbuffered memory and is capable of utilizing memory speeds of 1066MT/s, 1333MT/s, and 1600MT/s (Note: 1866MT/s modules can be installed but will down clock to 1600MT/s).
Cloud Ninjas offers upgrade packages that are compatible with the HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server. To find the best memory upgrade package for the ProLiant DL320e G8 Server, choose a memory type, speed and size from the list below. For the type, ECC Unbuffered (ECC UDIMM) is the only type that is supported. ECC UDIMMs provide a huge advantage by protecting your data against data corruption. When choosing speed, 1600MT/s is the way to go! For size, it all depends on what you're using your system for, but in general we recommend 8GB modules. HP ProLiant DL320E G8 Memory Configuration Guide
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server is a single CPU system with two memory channels each containing two DDR3 DIMM slots. The DL320e G8 only accepts ECC unbuffered memory. There is no support for low voltage (1.35v) modules. You cannot mix different memory types together. On the other hand, speeds can be mixed, but all modules will run at the speed of the slowest module installed. We recommend all memory inside your DL320e G8 be matching modules to ensure that your system functions properly. With this in mind, we make sure that all of our upgrade kits have matching modules.

Cloud Ninjas' HP ProLiant DL320E G8 Server Questions & Answers
- What sizes can you use for the HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server?
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server can be upgraded using 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB ECC UDIMMs.
- What speeds are supported by the HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server?
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server can support memory speeds of 1066MT/s, 1333MT/s, and 1600MT/s (1866MT/s modules can be installed, but will clock down to 1600MT/s).
- What types of RAM are accepted by the HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server?
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server supports DDR3 ECC unbuffered memory only.
- What is ECC Registered Memory?
ECC memory has the ability to fix memory errors in your server system. Registered (also called buffered) memory modules register between DRAM modules and the system's memory controller. ECC Registered Memory relieves stress off of the memory controller by decreasing the electrical load which increases its stability. The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server does not support ECC Registered memory.
- What is Unbuffered Memory?
Unbuffered memory has no register between the DRAM and the system’s memory controller. Unbuffered memory can be more efficient than registered memory since there is a direction connection from the DRAM to the memory controller. The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server supports unbuffered memory with ECC only.
- What is Load Reduced Memory?
Load reduced memory (LRDIMM) modules are designed with a buffer chip (or chips) to replace the register to help minimize loading. the LRDIMM increases server system memory capacity and speed. The HP DL320e G8 Server does not support load reduced memory.
- Can I mix ECC Reg with ECC unbuffered or Non-ECC memory?
It is never recommended to mix different memory types. Mixing unbuffered memory with ECC and non-ECC memory may cause boot failure. The use of both unbuffered and registered memory is never recommended. It is best practice to use identical memory configuration in all channels.
- What is max configuration?
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server allows a maximum configuration of 32 GB using four 8GB ECC unbuffered modules.
- How many memory channels per CPU?
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server has 1 CPU which controls 2 memory channels, which are made up of 2 DIMM slots each.
- How do I identify the start of the memory channel?
The HP ProLiant DL320e G8 Server has 4 DIMM slots which are colored coded with white and black. The white DIMM slots represent the start of a channel.
- Where can I order memory for my server?
Order your memory directly from this page by finding and selecting a memory package from the list above. If you prefer another method, you can email us directly at sales@cloudninjas.com.
- How soon will my RAM arrive?
Orders placed before 8 am are set for same day processing and shipping. Delivery times vary based on carrier and location.
- What is the warranty on memory for the server?
